Recycle for Sight Program

South Carolina Lions Clubs announces their newest fundraising venture, "Recycle for Sight". Lions Clubs throughout South Carolina will begin collecting used printer cartridges from all ink jet and laser printers.  The Lions will receive a contribution for every cartridge (either ink jet or laser) that is collected.  In addition, there are coupons attached to the collection boxes that can be used to purchase  recharged and new cartridges.  For easy ordering, go to www.buylionsink.com

A percentage of each sale goes to South Carolina Lions Charitable Services (a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization) which funds community service activities performed by Lions throughout South Carolina. Lions projects include: FREE Eye Exams, Eye Glasses, and Hearing Aids for those who qualify financially. The Lions Health Screening Unit which provides free health screening (blood pressure, visual acuity, hearing, glaucoma screening) state-wide, two Summer Youth Camps for the Blind and Hearing Impaired, and sponsor Leader Dogs for the Blind. Lions also assist with Eye Surgeries through the Storm Eye Institute, and fund the Lions Eye Research Center at the Medical University of SC. In 2000 the Lions donated $250,000 to South Carolina Public Schools for a Drug Awareness and Character Building program called Lions Quest. Finally, the Lions sponsor an International Youth Exchange program and promote LIFEPOINT (the SC organ/tissue donor organization). In addition to these statewide programs, each Lions Club supports many local service projects in their respective communities. The Lions of South Carolina devote significant time, energy, and funds to assist the underprivileged.
