HOT DOG SALES

Our Bi-Lo hot dog sale project is underway. Our next date is September 7 & 8. Those who volunteered to work, please be on time to cover your shift.

Upcoming Events

Our Speaker for the September 4th meeting will be Tim Gossett with Thomas McAfee funeral home. He will discuss pre-planning of funeral needs.

On September 18, our speaker will be Dr. Al Edwards, Director of the Greenville Mental Health Center. He will discuss important mental health topics.

Candy day will be on September 27-29, and our annual BBQ is scheduled for November 3. We need to start planning now for these two important fund-raisers. Let’s work to make these the most successful ever.

From The District Governor

While Lion Dee and I have been away from the club, we have been covering the District doing club visits. We have been to Greenville, Mauldin, Clemson, Seneca, Easley, Spartanburg and Walhalla among other places just in the month of August. We have met new friends and renewed acquaintances with Lions we have met before. Next month, thanks to scheduling, we will be able to be back to Berea for the first meeting. We then leave on September 5 from Charlotte and fly to Grand Rapids, Michigan to attend the USA/Canada Forum. We will be able to learn new ideas and gain knowledge on ways clubs in other parts of the country and Canada do things such as increase membership and fund raisers. Thank you for allowing Lion Dee and I to serve the District (and state) and carry the good name of Berea Lions Club with us where ever we go. District Governor Charles Jones

The Last Word

Greeting Lions, Our new Lions year is off and running. Our second fundraiser is Candy Day. Candy day is scheduled for September 27 – 29, 2007. We are also planning to use September 20 – 22, 2007. A schedule will be passed around for you to choose your time to participate. Campaign SightFirst II is also one of our fundraisers this year. This is a worthy cause to prevent blindness in the world. Lions International is doing extraordinary work to correct and prevent blindness. Our Club has pledged to donate $20.00 per member for each of two years, but last year we fell short. Lets step up this year and make Berea Lions Club do their share for District 32-A. At the meeting on September 4th be prepared to make a donation of $20.00 to $100.00 or more. Let’s try to make up for last year’s short fall. During Campaign SightFirst I Berea Lions club donated $7,000!! I am excited about our new Lions year and the many great things we will accomplish! Lion James Freeman
