February 2011

ACTIVITIES

Snow and rain has really slowed our outside work, but the weather is breaking and we can now get some things done.

Work nights are also scheduled for both meetings in February. For the Grounds and Building Committee Chairpersons, get your committees involved and plan work to be done at these meetings. Invite members to assist you. We need every member present. There will be something all can do. We will work about an hour.

We will start at 5:00 PM. on the grounds. Bring your blowers, yard broom and wheelbarrows. We need to get control of the leaves and pick up limbs.

Let’s really clean the facilities and let the public see them at their best.

The Pancake Breakfast will be Saturday, March 26 and then Hot Dog sales start April 1 and 2.

We recently ordered and received warehouse and household brooms to beat a price increase from our supplier. We have brooms, whisk brooms, toy brooms, push brooms and mops. Visit your customers.

CAPITAL PROJECTS

The gas stove in the kitchen is our next scheduled project. It will be cleaned, repaired, and painted. It will be ready for the pancake breakfast.

John Stroud is working on the details of the handicap ramp and handrails on the stairs.

A note from the Prez's Corner:
PROGRAM:
The Program for Tuesday – February 1, 2011- will be given by a speaker from South Carolina Lions Charitable Services. The Lion will give an up date on SCLCS and what happening around the state including the Lions State Office Building.

MEMBERSHIP:
We are having good attendance at our meeting but we need to find some new members. We lost a good member with the death of Lion Ruby Masters. The Board also voted to drop 3 members at their last meeting, so we need to try to build our numbers back up. We know you know someone you could ask to join or visit our club at the next meeting.

RENT LIONS BUILDING:
Put the word out that we would like to rent the building.

Candy Day Money is still coming in and it is not too late to ask your Doctor, Dentist, Business or a Friend. We received a check this week from a Doctor. We are still about a $1000.00 short on our goal so I need your help. Would you help? Lion President James

Club Concerns
We want to continue to remember Lion Lee Cook and Lion Ann Coleman. We extend our sympathy to Lion Oscar Masters and family in the passing of Lion Ruby Masters. Lion Ruby was an outstanding member, a truly wonderful lady and a friend to all. She will be missed but will always be remembered.
