May 2010

ACTIVITIES

Hot dog sales are progressing nicely. Our sales for April 30 and May 1 were $906.47. Our sales to date are $5,384.98. Thanks to those members who work so diligently on this project.

Broom sales are underway. Everyone has their assignments. Let’s all work together to make this year’s sale another great success as was last years.

CAPITAL PROJECTS

Lion John Stroud reports that the building exterior painting will be complete as soon as the windows are completed. The windows are prepped and ready for paint.

The entrance gate has been painted as has the poles on the cook shed.

The cook shed is next to be painted. The building has been prepped and is ready for paint. Lion John is scheduling a painting party to finish up the painting. Come help him.

Lion Ron Cooke continues to work on repairing the fence around the garden. Ron is also planning the landscaping of the driveway. He will need our assistance to finish these two projects.

A new sign has been erected at the entrance at the intersection of Lions Club Road and Lions Club Drive. This will give us some advertisement as well as assist clients in finding us.

Thanks to all

Thanks to those of you who are dedicating many hours to cutting grass, painting the buildings, selling brooms, selling hot dogs and those of you who work behind the scene to handle the administrative and scheduling functions that keep us running.

A note from the Prez's Corner:
Fellow Lions:

We have two more months in this Lions year--May and June. We still have the hot dog stand to work and broom sales during May. We have had quite a lot of things going on. My thanks to Lion John Stroud and all the members who helped paint the outside of the building. It is such a vast improvement, And my appreciation to Lion Ron Cooke and his group who have worked on the grounds. Lions Guy Carter and Lenhardt Lathem have put a sign at the driveway entrance to let folks know where we are. Thanks for doing this.

Now, it's time for our broom sales. We'll be working different locations in high traffic areas. People need brooms. Let's have a great month on our broom sales. And we need to continue to support the hot dog stand. This is a great fundraiser for the club. And it is an enjoyable two hours spent with some fellow Lions.

We will soon be having a new administration coming in on June 15. I hope you will get behind Lion James Freeman and give him you total support next year and help us have an outstanding year.

Thank you for all the hard work everyone is doing. Berea Lions Club continues to be one of the leaders in District 32-A. Lion President Charles

PDG James P. Freeman received THE DR. FRANKLIN G. MASON FELLOW AWARD from the South Carolina Lions Foundation for His Generous Support of South Carolina Lions Charitable Services For Year of 2010 at the State Lion Club Convention in Charleston, SC.
